I was thrilled to see that Kevin Purdy at Lifehacker picked up my Send-To-Instapaper tutorial for Google Reader. In the comments on his post, member “illadvised” asked, “Has anyone tried an Evernote ‘Send To’?” Great idea!
This one, as it turns out, is even easier than the one for Instapaper.
Update: Over at the official Evernote blog they’ve posted alternate instructions that clip the entire page, which you might find more useful.
How to add an Evernote “Send To” link to Google Reader
-
Go to the Google Reader Settings page. On the “Send To” tab, scroll to the bottom and click on “Create a custom link.”
-
In the “Name” field type “Evernote,” or whatever you want.
-
In the “URL” field paste the following:
http://www.evernote.com/clip.action?url=${url}&title=${title}
Make sure you get everything, starting with “http” and ending with “${title}”. Don’t change anything.
-
In the (optional) “Icon URL” field paste this:
http://www.evernote.com/about/img/favicon.ico
-
When you’re done it should look like this:

Click on “Save” and you’re done!
Now when you click on “Send To” on a Google Reader item a new page will load, instantly adding the item to Evernote and giving you options to choose a notebook and tags. (If you’re not logged into Evernote Web you’ll be prompted to login first.)

Thanks for this and the Posterous one as well. You just made my life easier.
Awesome! Thank you!
btw: Instapaper was added by Google natively.
Any idea if you can send a tag to Evernote using the URL? I tried adding &tag= and &tags=, but no luck.
